Library news

The Panther Valley Public Library presents “A Universe of Stories ” during its summer library program, which begins June 25.

Readers will explore space and our universe. Activities may include group games, art projects, science experiments and more.

The Summer Reading Program is open to children ages 3 to 8 and will be held Tuesdays for 3- to 5-year-olds and Wednesdays for 6- to 8-year-olds.

Registration for “A Universe of Stories” begins June 3.

For more information or to register, call the library at 570-645-3780. Space is limited.

All programs are free of charge.

Bus trip

Friends of Lansford Recreation is hosting a bus trip to New York City for a day on your own on July 13.

The bus will depart from the Lansford Pool parking lot at 7 a.m. and from New York City at 7 p.m.

Cost per person is $35 and includes drinks and breakfast snacks.

Senior center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of June 3-7 is:

Monday: Chicken noodle soup, meatloaf sandwich, broccoli slaw, cottage cheese with peaches.

Tuesday: Baked fish, Au gratin potatoes, peas, rice pudding or egg salad sandwich.

Wednesday: Open hot pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruited Jello or chicken ranch salad.

Thursday: Chicken Parmesan, penne pasta, broccoli, scalloped pears or turkey hoagie.

Friday: Pizza and salad.

The senior center has also announced its upcoming events for June 3-14:

Nickel-Keeno on June 3 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on June 4 at 11 a.m.; Scattergories on June 5 at 11 a.m.; Yahtzee on June 6 at 11 a.m.; Senior Games Appreciation Day on June 7 at 11 a.m.

Sunshine meeting on June 10 at 10:15 a.m. followed by trivia at 11 a.m.; Speaker and Refreshments from Patriot Home Care on June 11 at 11 a.m.; Women’s Pool and Men’s Cards on June 12 at 10:30 a.m.; Birthday Bingo on June 13 at 11 a.m.; Honor mothers and fathers on June 14 at 11 a.m.
