A look back: May 18, 1966
The Jim Thorpe Area School Board appointed Elmer W. Huggler, 48, of Sandy Lake, Mercer County, as principal of the high school. His salary was established at $9,500.
Huggler is married and the father of four children. He graduated from Johnsonburg High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lock Haven State College, earned a master’s degree in education at the Pennsylvania State University and received his secondary school principal’s certification from Westminster College. He is also a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
He is presently serving as principal of Townville High School in Crawford County.
